Twitter & Stuff

Just added Twitter. Great one more thing to update. Keeping it Wonders of Whimsy, unless people want more. Not too many dolls been made this year. But, I have a swap coming up, so I have to make at least one. I will be teaching myself to sculpt with polymer clay next year. I am very interested in Stop Motion Animation, so this will be a great skill to learn. I cannot wait. I am gonna need real artist workshop instead of my doll museum of an office. I hope I can find time to finish this hook rug. I have been procrastinating for a while.

October Snow Storm

A break in the snow has allowed a lot of what was shoveled to melt. The Crows came out with another swarm of black birds that like to eat the cat food I put out. The crows are spoiled. They hang out during the winter mornings and eat peanuts Joan and I put out for them. Crows are really fun to watch. They know me, which is real neat.

Halloween Decor & A Box by Joan

We sold all of our Halloween Decor, except for my trees, garland and crows. I will post a video of our house all decked out. It was fun. I would let kids tour the house, most were scared because it really looked like and old manor house with flicker lights everywhere and our costumes we awesome!

Since becoming a Christian we felt we should not celebrate Halloween like we used to. I love fall and Halloween, so I had to keep some items and our custom made theatrical costumes. Plus, I love lights. I could have lights up for every holiday, mind you. Gosh, I'd be a Koo koo cat lady with lights all around her house all year round...HAHAHAHA...too funny, I crack myself up! Nope, I am the opposite of that. I hate clutter. That would suffocate me.

Joan painted a box I gave her. She is trying to break into Folk Art and loves to paint. Go check out her blog to view the auction, it ends Sunday.

Primitive Folk Art Cat Make-Do

I was searching for an image on my computer and came upon this one. Here is Shadow posing for me on my set up. Shadow is a big reason I wanted to get into Animation. I cannot blog about what I mean here, someday you will know. Anyway, I have been a terrible blogger. I probably said that before. LOL I could blog about some of my classes, lol then you might feel connected. I have Art History next term. I am happy and excited. I did not pay attention when I was a teen and the Art Institute did not have book classes. PURE ART. Just how I liked it back then. I was a C student at best. Late bloomer I call it or just too much partying and not giving a crap. Now I am a 4.0 student. YEAH. I do not feel proud of myself, though. Because I did not try as hard as I should. I thank the lord for that, but know that if I did it all perfect I could have a 100% A+ I don't know if that even counts as anything higher than a 4.0, but I think I compete against myself sometimes. Is that weird?

Burr it is cold outside!

Not much going on here today. It is real chilly out and rainy, so I thought what a good day to work with fiber. Here is my latest hook rug. I blogged about wanting to make this months ago. My hook rug tutor had one at her house. I really need to meet up with her again. I am an idiot when it comes to binding them. Or maybe I am just too much of a perfectionist. Probably both. LOL It would be a good day to snuggle by the fire, but nope, none of that going on. I have been procrastinating on a bunch of Ipod purses. They are almost finished, but I cannot seem to get motivated to make the straps. Probably because I have not sold any. That is usually a big motivation for me. I am sure it is the same with everyone. I also have a few canvas's that are sitting. Having so many hobbies is great..I do love it, but I can see if I had just one I might get more of that finished. I am not complaining, though. I would never take back any of the fun things I have learned the last few years. I have many many projects waiting to be started to, so my winter will be full.

Joan's Witch

Sorry Joan, I could not wait. I have been teaching Joan how to make dolls. Paper clay dolls, that is. Here is Joan's first witch. I have been helping her as she goes. Showing her all my clever tricks, making the hat and needle felting her hair. It has been quite a fun experience being able to share my skills with someone.

Joan will be putting her on E-bay next week and I will blog about it again...then. Soon maybe Joan can join our doll groups and start making a name for herself. I am so proud of her so far. She has been a great student.

Joan is using a pattern I created using muslin for these dolls. I will be showing her how to sew on my machine tomorrow morning, so she can start creating more.

We can officially welcome Joan into the doll making world!!! YEAH! Go check her out on her blog.

Joan's Sneak Peak

My good friend and neighbor Joan is making her first witch doll. GO Check her out on her blog. As for me, I am struggling to get to my homework! GRRRR.

Happy birthday to me!

I know how you all love to see pictures of my office, so here is a new one. Joan gave me 3 kitten paintings, from the last litter I rescued, for my birthday. You can see them on the bottom shelf. I also blogged about them on alley cat rescue. She also took me out for breakfast. That was cool! Thanks Joan.

So, anyway.....I am turning 40 years old today. Yep, you read that right. I don't look a day over 29, either, right? Actually if you go by facebook, I am 18 and 21. lol That would be about right because I am a freshman in college. Yet, I have the mentality of a 40 year old. They call that wisdom and I thank the lord for it.

I am sorry about being a lousy blogger lately. I have been helping Joan with her first witch doll. Plus, I only have 2.5 weeks of school left this term and it goes by so fast. I still cannot believe I will be a sophomore by Christmas. Time flies when your past middle age.

Sunflower rug

It has been a busy day, but I did get the chance to finish a project. I always like when I can accomplish something. This little hook rug is only an 8x8.

It was real cold, today. Barely 60 with overcast and sprinkles. We'll probably have more of the same tomorrow.

Welcome Fall

It is cool and windy out this morning. Feeling like fall. As I was looking for something in my craft closet, I eyed a stack of wool from Marti of Old World Primitives. So, I decided to cut out a fall picture. I did this all freehand without a drawing or pattern. That's the easy part. When am I gonna hand stitch this together? I feel it will need more embellishments as well, so it will be a work in progress. Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the colors, the smells, the sweaters, Halloween, my birthday....it goes on.

~Pumpkins & more~

What am I working on... I scheduled a little creative time today. I am so happy, that I did. I won't be getting much over the weekend. I have open houses both days. But, if I could put a few hours a day, I may have some Halloween items for sale this weekend. I love this little pumpkin make-do with his crow. I painted on his eyes versus the sew on look. He is not finished but, I like sharing. I feel like I have not been a good blogger, lately.

Projects

I have been procrastinating on my doll, long enough. I hope to work on her and my sunflower hook rug this week. I wanted to set her aside and work on a Halloween item, but I don't want another unfinished project.

I have lots of schoolwork and now I am working on the weekends, doing open houses. So, less free time for me.

A Clean Office & Joan's Doll

Minus my sewing machine on the floor, it looks clean! :) When your friends say, "Wow, it's clean" you know it was a pig sty. LOL

Joan is finished with her first doll. It was a collaboration between the two of us, because I had to sew for her. But Joan did the rest. Her painting style is interesting and makes this doll so much her own style. I love it. I am so excited to share.
She will be listing her on Ebay...Hopefully tonight.

Joan is excited about making dolls now. I am sewing up bodies for her, so she can paper clay a witch this week. It is so fun mentoring an artist. I never thought I would be doing that. I sure hope Joan finds success in her art. She has been painting all her life. Go check out her blog here.

Where is my Halloween spirit?

That is what I was thinking when I decided to make this Americana doll. This is what I made when I showed Joan how to use paper clay. I am thinking about mounting her on a jar and putting something themed inside. I am a bit clueless right now because I am not concentrating on this. I wish I could just get my act together and make some Halloween dolls. Time is flying by.

Progress

Dave rented that old movie Soylent Green, last night. So, I chose to work on my rug while we watched it. We had not seen it and were told it was disturbing. Well, I could not get over how cheesy it was. I did not finish watching it. It was too silly for me. But, at least I was able to get some of this done. It is nice to finally work on something!

WIP

It has been a while since I have made anything. I cannot believe we are into September already. I should be getting motivated to make a doll. I have 3 days to make something for WSOAPP. I haven't even started. Doll making can take up 4 hours at a time and I just have not been focused enough to commit that. I received a custom order for my slippers. I should take that off my ETSY. I figured I am making $3 an hour. Yippy. But, it does help out with the cats. By the way, I finally caught and snipped that momma kitty. You can read that on Alley Cat Rescue, when I get around to posting it. LOL

Ghoulie is here

Pea of Whimsical Endeavors created this cutie. She is sweet, too! I am busy today. I designed a cloth body, so Joan (my friend and neighbor) can sculpt paper clay dolls this afternoon. Should be interesting.

ME @ 21 Too Funny!

I decided to scan in some of my scrapbook (that I never really finished) lol This scrapbook has pictures of me in my 20's and early 30's. I may share some more down the road. So, this would be my natural hair color.

Camping Pictures

Better late than never. I took these last weekend. We are at about 8000 feet. But on the flat tops, so you don't see mountains. The lake is bigger than it looks. It was real cold and choppy on Saturday, so my jet ski ride was frigid and wet. But, Sunday was warmer and glassy; so we had a lot of fun after all. I took Gin for a nice hike in the woods. She loved it. She acted like a puppy though and insisted on dragging me most of the way.

I am almost done with school work, so maybe I will do something creative. I have so much on my to do list, though, that I am overwhelmed and do nothing.

As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so [was] the appearance of the brightness round about. This [was] the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw [it], I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and [there was] a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow [was] upon his head, and his face [was] as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

A darling surprise!

Oh look at all the goodies i received today. Pea of Whimsical Endeavor made this darling make-do. He is so sweet and meticulously crafted. Pea was so generous giving him away on her blog. She was also kind enough to send goodies for fun and for my birthday next month. I love everything and it totally made my day.

Winter Love

I painted one last painting before the weekend camping trip. We are going to the Western Slope to camp at a lake with Jet Ski's and 4 wheelers. WooHoo! :) I'll share some pictures when I get back. I hope you have a nice weekend. Enjoy it cuz it's almost over!!!

Stella

I pulled this big canvas out of the garage. It was for an abstract, that I had not gotten to painting. I think it goes really nice here. It is huge. 30X36 the others are 10x10, 8x8, 6x6.
I cannot imagine selling something this big on Ebay. This would look good in a gallery...hhhhmmm.

Three Sisters

Welp, I am out of canvas. I have a lot of studying to do, so I best get to it. All of these paintings will be posted on Ebay, once all my current auctions are over. I think they look great together. Seems like something someone might want to collect. We'll see.

Twins

I painted 'Twins" this morning. It is a 10 by 10 deep canvas. I am thrilled with it. I hope you are enjoying my new work. I decided to do an entire theme with these colors. I love how the blue looks up against black hair. It will be interesting to see if people like these. I mean enough to bid on them that is! It would be nice to be able to support my college education with a job of painting. Praise the Lord!

More paintings

I got three more painting in for the day. These are little 4x4s. I think they turned out beautifully. It would be wonderful to list them all together. So, I may wait till my current auctions are finished.

Falling

Can you believe I finished another painting? I call this 'Falling.' I like the wrap around canvas here. You can display any way you like. I like the first one. I would love to post this painting along with 'Shelby Dear'. The go well together.

Shelby Dear

To tell you the truth. I find I am surprising myself with each new painting. I really did not know what I was doing when I started. And I still don't for that matter. lol I am just having fun.

This one, I named after my friend, Shelby. You've seen her mug on my ETSY page, sporting some of my hats and neck warmers. Unfortunately, she does not get this painting. Unless she buys it. LOL If I have time, I will place her on Ebay.

Emma is here

Look what I won! A little Snippets cat, Emma. Carrie Murtha's art is amazing. I know, I own (now 3) pieces by her. I love blog giveaway's and I love my new little cat. She is sitting next to my laptop now. heehee.

I am doing schoolwork and trying to paint in between.

500th post & a painting

I should be doing a giveaway. Instead I am showing off a new painting, I just finished. This is a bit impressionistic. Not easy painting on a 4x4, but that is what makes it unique! Now don't look at it all blown up because the size is just as you see it. I may put this on Ebay this week. I am pretty busy with school this week because I plan on camping in the mountains this weekend. Jet ski's & four wheelers. WHOOHOO. Lol My sister will be watching the kitties. Uiyvie.

Who does this remind you of?

Funny, but it was not intentional that my little 4x5 painting looks like that girl from Scooby Doo. LMAO. The crackle on this painting came out real notice-able. I did not wait for it to dry a day, I let it dry enough then put a lot of crackle on it, then used black as my wash. I cannot believe I got 3 paintings done, today! I am just having some fun and working on more characters. I might just put this on E-bay to see if anyone likes her.

A pretty lady and her cat

Have you been keeping up with me? I am not a patient person, so as soon as I have something to share, I get right down to it. As I was working on this little 5x7 painting, I realize I had originally drawn a girly body. Her face turned out too mature, so I had to change that. Now, she is a woman. LOL She will be listed on Ebay this weekend

Halloween Painting

This is my first Halloween painting! It is cute, don't you think? I tried using thin layers of paint so that the crackle effect would show up. Thanks Cris for responding to that. My main problem is layering paint, then some of the layers won't show through the crackle. But, this one worked out pretty good. She is listed on Ebay this weekend.

I was able to finish all my assignments in Image Editing, so I may take another break and paint something else...heehee. I have the painters bug, right now. It is good because I need this for my dreams to come true.

Getting Better?

I took some time this evening and painted another angel. I might as well have some cute paintings that I would love to keep, while I practice. I can tell already that my skin tone is better. This painting needs some tweaking in her eyes and lips. But, other than that, I just love it.I put that crafter's crackle on my self portrait about 4 hours ago and nothing happened. I am bummed because now it is shinny with no crackle. I'd rather it be a flat finish if the darn thing won't crackle. What did I do wrong? I put it on with a brush. Should I have rolled it on really thin? Go figure, right?

Booo hooo

My little witch, Zelda did not sell on Ebay. Hoo Hum. So, I put her and Peter the Pumpkin in my WSOAPP shop. Check it out if you are interested. As usual all my proceeds go to rescuing homeless cats and kittens. If this does not sell it will end up in next months raffle to raise money. I have 2 kittens I need fixed and shots, ect. Not to mention the baby food is $2 a day to help train and administer antibiotics....shhhheeeesshhh.

SOLD Thank you Angie!!
